Helioterra Wines is a small, artisan producer of Northwest wines made at an urban winery in SE Portland, Oregon. Our wines are pretty, elegant and graceful in style. Winemaker Anne Ebenretier Hubatch partners with exceptional regional vineyard growers to craft wines that demonstrate the best that the Northwest offers.
In 2000, winemaker Anne Ebenretier Hubatch realized her future in the heart of Oregon wine country when she discovered a passion to become a winemaker. It was then that Anne began her decade-long, experiential wine training with some of Oregon's best winemakers — Eric Hamacher (Hamacher Wines), David Adelsheim & Dave Paige (Adelsheim Vineyard), Joe Dobbes (Dobbes Family Estate/Wine By Joe), and Alfredo Apolloni (Apolloni Vineyards). She enrolled at Chemeketa Community College and began studies in Winemaking.
In 2009, Anne introduced her first solo vintage – Helioterra Wines. The name draws on geological inspirations, symbolizing Heliolite, the Oregon state gemstone (more commonly known as Sun Stone.) Helio and terra combine the Greek words for sun and earth, natural partners for quality grape growing. Anne selects her wine grapes from top-notch Northwest vineyards to craft her wines which she describes as "a grounded, honest expression of her winemaking style, reflecting feminine sensibilities." Says Anne, "Helioterra wines are sensuous and evocative in style, 'to honor the wine grapes and the fertile vineyards where they are grown.'"
Helioterra produces Pinot Noir, Syrah, Mourvédre and Pinot Blanc. Starting in 2012, we will also offer Melon de Bourgogne and Rosé of Pinot Noir.
